Residential facilities for groups and individuals

The house is available for B and B outside our June 20 -September 1 season during which it is used as a language school.Groups who would like to use the house need to give us good advance warning.

The house can be used by groups that want self catering or we can provide board. As the road ends in the village it is aptly named Middlesmoor and such surroundings are ideal for individual walkers or groups of ramblers or running clubs.

The village itself is small and beautiful. There are 26 beds available and the house is comfortable with fine views. We have a swimming pool and pleasant garden.

The house and it's facilities
Prospect house is available for large groups since we have sleeping accommodation for up to 26 people. There are 4 bathrooms, three of which have showers.The house has these facilities because for 22 years we have run our English language school for foreign children.There is a covered heated swimming pool next to the house.

There are 2 basement areas. One is a theatre (with curtain and lighting) and the other, a games area with pool table and table tennis.

There is a four oven Aga in the kitchen, plus a gas cooker and refrigerator with freezer in the pantry; there are also 2 large freezers in the cellar. In the dining room there is a table that seats 30. There is plenty of cupboard space in the cellar. One double bedroom and five bedrooms with sixteen place bunk beds which are convertible to double beds. There are further bed spaces in the loft.

The surrounding area
Middlesmoor is a typical Dales village but its particular attraction is that as the road ends in the village, it is less afflicted by cars. All around are the moors and the house and garden have a fine view.

There is a wide variety of walks available and Middlesmoor itself is on Nidderdale way so walkers could use the house as an overnight stop.

Companies
Companies would find the house ideal for group motivation days or as a more intimate form of conference centre.

School/*University field trips
(day/weekend or week)
Because we have run the language school for so long the house is ideally equipped for school groups for day / weekend or week long field trips. We have had a very successful weekend for 25 children from a primary school who particularly enjoyed being together overnight and all the arranged activities.

*University departments could arrange field trips and use the house as a base.

Adult painting and printing
The house is ideally situated for long weekend or week long painting courses.The road ends in the village so it is quiet. All around are fields and paths and a wood with a stream running through it and the village is very picturesque.

As I am myself a painter I hope that the many paintings in the house will be stimulating and that the end of day group discussions will be useful. In such courses the best help is often of a technical rather than aesthetic sort since most people are trying to find their own way. I find that each group varies in what it wants and this is best decided on in an initial group discussion.

I have a fine printing press on which various forms of intaglio printing can be done. I am working on a book on modern painting so I have plenty of material that amateur painters might find stimulating with a good collection of slides of paintings. The house itself is comfortable with a splendid view and we have plenty of experience in catering for groups. There is a walled garden and even a swimming pool.

I am a painter so I run week long art courses at Middlesmoor in painting and printing.

We have a fine Rochat printing press. We use metal and acrylic sheets for etching and wood and lino for printing. I paint water colours / oils and acrylics.

Pottery
We have an electric kiln for non-wheel thrown pottery would probably be an extra for general art groups.
