  • This grammar book exemplifies grammar.  You cold almost call it a grammarised phrase book!

THE THINKING BEHIND THE  GRAMMAR BOOK

  1. The grammar book grew out of the needs of Italian children at Middlesmoor summer courses   Click here to read the back ground reasoning about language teaching.

  2. They need clear grammar explanation that they can self access. ( click for demo page) The grammar explanation should be at a minimum (enough to satisfy the unexpected Italian vice of pedantry!) and depend as much on exemplary sentences that are also of phrase book usefulness.

  3. Vocabulary needs conscious learning and suitable activities for memorisation.

  4. Exercises can be a useful context for vocabulary extension (thus our difficult word translations)

  5. Plays. As most students have at best a book knowledge, the plays which tightly focus on the grammar of the unit give the chance of speaking practice. The plays are quickly learnt by heart and are fun to act and above all as videoed film they are an ideal way of getting repetition and revision all under the guise of laughing at companions’ mistakes in the acting.
