The grammar
explanation should be at a minimum (enough to satisfy the unexpected
Italian vice of pedantry!) and depend as much on exemplary sentences
that are also of phrase book usefulness.

Vocabulary needs conscious learning and suitable activities for
memorisation.

Exercises can be a useful context for
vocabulary
extension (thus our difficult word translations)

Plays.
As most students have at best a book knowledge, the plays which tightly
focus on the grammar of the unit give the chance of speaking practice.
The plays are quickly learnt by heart and are fun to act and above
all as videoed film they are an ideal way of getting repetition
and revision
all under the guise
of laughing at companions’ mistakes in the acting.
