Dear Anthony, I “googled” your name and there; seeing the house that for two summers, was home was like opening a drawer of memories: the telephone on the piano where I would wait anxiously for calls from my parents. The billiard table in the cellar with all the food in the cupboards. The swimming pool that could change into a classroom. The dining room that became a pottery room where we did pottery. The camping week and your famous mini bus. All this I remembered and now I am 34. I’ve always tenderly remembered the beautiful soft contoured hills of the Yorkshire dales and your friendly hospitality. One day I should like to return. With sincere affection Gabriele.

Thanks to the internet, we sometimes receive unexpected letters from ex students – sometimes from as many as 20 years ago. Some of these comments seem worth including as they give a vivid sense of what Middlesmoor represented for them.
